Firework Injuries in America—Put Your Knowledge to the Test

introduces the article "how many firework injuries happen on the 4th of July"

Summer is here, which means barbecues, sunscreen, and… injuries? Unfortunately, the 4th of July regularly ranks as one of the most dangerous holidays in America, and often turns backyard barbecues into trips to the hospital.

Many Americans are more than happy to accept the potential risks associated with fireworks in exchange for some summer fun, but do you know just how risky different pyrotechnics are? What about how many injuries from fireworks happen annually?

The team at YourLocalSecurity.com surveyed 1,170 Americans on Pollfish in May to test their knowledge of firework-related injuries and compared the most-popular predictions to the most recent Fireworks Annual Report by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. How do your guesses stack up?

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner! Respondents guessed correctly that fireworks cause more injuries than rockets.

Better luck next time—and don’t forget to wear protective eye gear.

Americans reported over 15,000 firework injuries, and men were the victims in over 11,000 of those injuries.
